EQUIPPING COMMUNITIES TO COPE WITH RENEWED ESCALATIONS AND LEAD THEIR OWN RECOVERY
IsraAID is an NGO that responds to global humanitarian emergencies. It operates on 6 continents but had never operated in Israel prior to October 7, 2023. But in the ensuing chaos, it was quickly recognised there was no other local organisation with experience in dealing with emergencies at this scale.
Since October 7, IsraAID has been mitigating the gaps in local services and building close partnerships with community leaders and authorities. This includes assisting 10 displaced communities from the Gaza border region.
18 people were killed from the Kibbutz Kissufim community and 1 hostage taken (still not released). IsraAID met the survivors upon arrival at an evacuation center in the Dead Sea and immediately established a comprehensive support package. The community only moved from hotels to interim accommodation in the southern town of Omer, near Beer Sheva, in September 2024. IsraAID will provide extended mental health and psychosocial support, assistance to integrate into new schools, and resource sharing with kibbutz leaders and Eshkol resilience services. IsraAID will operate these programs until they can hand them over or they are no longer required. We are honoured to join with Australia’s Erdi Foundation, in assisting this community during such challenging times. We invite you to join us in this effort.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
